New Moon of Virgo 2018 - What's Best for Our Soul (con traducción en español)

I have a fondness for the sign of Virgo.  One that goes incredibly deep into the core of my soul.  In many stages of my life, I went through some intensly dark moments.  It was in those moments that the Virgos of my life came froward to help me see the Light.  They lifted me up and cared for me when I did not have the ability to care for myself.  I owe a tremendous debt to these kind people, one that I may never be able to repay.  In my early 20's I battled substance abuse. I grew up with paralyzing social anxiety, and as I was set free to college with nobody to monitor me, I began using drugs and alcohol to "free" myself from the anxiety that trapped me.  While it worked for the short run, it started catching up to me.  I met my friend Nicole in the college library as I was working on a research paper.  She asked if we could work together and help each other.  I jumped at the chance to make a new friend, something that was very difficult for me at the time, and it was totally worth going out of my comfort zone.  To be honest, she is one of the most Virgo people I know.  Organized, clean, smart with her money, and indescribably caring.  We worked together on several group projects where she organized and kept us on schedule.  Were it not for her exceptional work ethic and skilled time keeping, I can't say we would have won the awards we won.  As I began using drugs and alcohol more and more, she began to notice a change in me.  I was becoming less reliable, more aggressive, and more entitled.  One day, she gave me an ultimatum.  Either I ditch the drugs, or we could no longer keep our friendship.  It was that fateful night that she saved my life.  I poured the drugs into the toilet and flushed that awful path away.  It was from that point on that I moved forward into the spiritual path that has lead me to writing this article.  Were it not for her true love and care for me in a moment where I could have made a fatal decision, I might not be here.  My grandmother is also a Virgo, and through the many challenges in my childhood, she was always there for me.  She guided me to have faith in the Creator, to believe in myself, and to treat others with kindness and compassion.  It is the extremely powerful capacity of the Virgo born to care for those in a way that is truly selfless, that can help bring others back to a state of balance and bring them healing.  This month, we have the ability to tap into this energy.  To go back to our perfected selves and release all of the baggage we carry with us in order to start a new.  

Let's take a look at this month's chart:

As we can see, there is still a powerful Leo energy lingering.  The Sun, Moon, and retrograde Mercury are all in Leo.  The Ascendent is in Aquarius along with retrograde Mars at zero degrees packing a very strong punch.  The moon is at an exact opposition to the ascendent, showing us that the energy of conflict continues to permeate the universe.  Let's consider where we've come from to understand where we're meant to go this month.  Over the last couple of months we have been faced with tough decisions: either allow ourselves to influenced by the negative consciousness of our friends or community, or lead forward with an open heart and certainty in our own Light.  We have had to confront this dark side of ourselves that jumps on the bandwagon of gossip and rides the wave towards fighting with other people.  If we have been successful in not giving in to this negative energy from those around us, and instead, have been able to open our hearts, take responsibility, and lead with love, then this month will only serve to elevate us.  If we have fallen under the spell of others' opinions and influence to be combative, then this month will give us another chance to rise above it by presenting us with similar situations so that we can choose to behave differently.  

The Sun, Moon, and retrograde Mercury are all going to push us to feel as if we are the leaders in everything we do.  We will feel a surge of creative and expressive energy that will inspire us to go back to some creative endeavor we may have left unfinished and pick up where we left off.  This is a perfect opportunity to reignite our desire for creative expression and artistic flair.  The Aquarius ascendent will assist us in finding new and out-of-the box ideas in order to take these unfinished projects to an even higher level than we thought possible.  So if you're ready to rediscover your inspiration, this is a fine time to pay attention to the ideas that come to you and invest in them.  The only snag is that we may take a know-it-all approach.  The Moon's opposition to the Ascendent can make us feel as if we know better than others.  Leo often says, "I know what's best for you and what's best for any situation."  The truth of the matter is that these situations are not here for us to tell others what we think they should do or what we think is best for them.  They are here for us to rediscover what is best for our soul.  

There is also a t-square between Venus in Libra, Chiron in Aries, and Saturn in Capricorn.  This configuration will bring up old wounds from people we feel did not treat us the right way, and we could seek to place blame or hold them accountable by trying to bring them to justice.  We have to remember that while all of this going on, we are still in the lunar month that is ruled by Virgo.  Virgo is the sign of what the Kabbalists call "the embryonic state" or "the seed level."  This means that we can go back to situations in which we disconnected from our divine essence by behaving reactively and negatively, and through a shift in consciousness and proactive behavior, return to a state of connection to the divine.  In other words, we can fix past mistakes and make it as if they never happened. It is only in the month of Virgo that we have the ability to revisit situations in which we disconnected ourselves from our divine essence and return to a place of balance and connectedness.  During this month we will see old challenges that we faced over the last year come back to test us again (starting from the last new moon of Libra in Sept 2017 up to today) .  Every challenge we have faced over the last year, was an opportunity for us to rise above our negative, reactive behavior, and instead, act with love, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, and any other Light-like quality.  In those situations where we were successful in not being controlled by our ego and negative behavior, then we elevated ourselves to a new reality where those things no longer have control over us.  In essence, we brought ourselves back in line with our divine essence, our soul, and the Light of the Creator.  

However, if we failed, they will come back again this month to give us another chance to overcome our negative reactions.  Here's an example: let's say earlier this year, you were faced with a situation where you wanted to get extremely angry and lash out towards a person whom you felt was disrespecting you.  According to Kabbalah, that situation is only there for you to overcome your anger and handle the situation from a Light-like consciousness, but you gave in and lashed out.  It felt good for a moment, but you still walk around with the lingering tendency to get angry.  This month, a similar event will resurface so that you can deal with it differently.  This time, instead of acting in anger, act with tolerance, patience, or even humble assertiveness.  If we can go back to these situations that once disconnected us, and instead, use them as an opportunity to overcome the reactive behavior that it ignites, then we can press play on an alternate universe where new opportunities arise for us while repetitive patterns cease to plague us.  

Just as I had the opportunity to flush those drugs down the drain, we have an opportunity to flush our negative behavior down the drain for good.  It is a month where we can either point fingers and tell everyone what we think is good for them (or wrong with them), or it is a month where we go back to face those things that block us from fully expressing our highest potential and totally break them down to reveal a brand new reality.  I don't want to think about where I would be now had I not flushed them, but in doing so, I opened the door to a reality where I found so much more goodness that was waiting form me.  All it takes is little self awareness and willingness to go beyond our temporary, self-centered consciousness, and instead, behave like the true Light beings that we are.  

The Kabbalists gave us tools we can use to control the energy of each month. These tools are the Hebrew letters that control the sign and planet that rule each month. According the Zohar, the Hebrew alphabet is not just any normal set of letters. It is the physical manifestation of spiritual vibrations of energy. When we gaze upon the letters, their vibrations activate the Light of our soul. Once this Light is activated, we are given the power to overcome any negative influence, thereby taking our power back. This month, the Kabbalists teach that we can use the Hebrew letter "Resh" to control the planet of Mercury and the Hebrew letter "Yud" to control the sign of Virgo. Any time we find ourselves falling into repetitive negative behavior, meditate on these letters simply by gazing upon them. Allow their Light to enter your consciousness and activate the Light of your soul. From there, you can clear your mind and move forward acting with your divine essence. Save and use the image below throughout this month to take your power pack, and reconnect with your true, inner Light.

This month leads us up to the New Moon of Libra, which is actually a cosmic new year where this new movie can begin to play.  As long as we do the spiritual work during this month, that alternate universe can begin to take shape.

Luna Nueva de Virgo 2018 - Lo que Sea lo Mejor Para Nuestra Alma

Fue a partir de ese momento que avancé en el camino espiritual que me llevó a escribir este artículo. Si no fuera por su verdadero amor y cariño por mí en un momento en el que podría haber tomado una decisión fatal, podría no estar aquí. Mi abuela también es Virgo, y a través de los muchos desafíos en mi infancia, ella siempre estuvo ahí para mí. Ella me guió para tener fe en el Creador, para creer en mí mismo, y para tratar a los demás con amabilidad y compasión. Es la capacidad extremadamente poderosa del Virgo de cuidar a aquellos de una manera que es verdaderamente desinteresada y que puede ayudar a otros a regresar a un estado de equilibrio y traerles curación.
